When: Thursday, Dec. 6, 2018 from 5:30 - 7:30 PM
What: Family coding event as part of the Hour of Code 2018 during Computer Science Education Week. There will be opportunities for beginners through advanced coders. Families with students from Kindergarten through high school are welcome to participate.
Coding is basically giving the directions to tell a computer what to do. Research shows that kids can pick up programming concepts before they know how to read and write. In fact, their brains are more receptive to computer languages at a young age, just like foreign languages. Although participants are requested to bring their own devices (laptops, tablets, smartphones, etc.), there will also be unplugged sessions. A small number of devices will be available to use as well.
Volunteers are needed. If you have questions or are interested in volunteering please contact Christy
for more information.
