A New Pathway to College…

"Substandard high school preparation is compounded by poor alignment between high schools and colleges, which often creates an “expectations gap” between what colleges require and what high schools produce…

We propose to dramatically expand college participation and success by outlining ways in which postsecondary institutions, K–12 school systems… create a seamless pathway between high school and college."

Cyber Village Academy's Mission

Cyber Village Academy prepares students to meet the challenge of a rapidly changing world with confidence by helping them to become inquiring, knowledgeable, caring and active citizens who value academic rigor, integrity, self reliance and compassion.

HIGH SCHOOL TO COLLEGE PROGRAM

The Cyber Village Academy High School to College program is designed to prepare students during grades 9 & 10 for the Post-Secondary Enrollment Options program offering college classes to high school juniors and seniors.

Using a proven blend of on campus and online coursework, experiential learning and internships, career exploration and community partnerships, CVA gives students the opportunity to develop and pursue personal goals and interests.

With the help of a mentor teacher students can earn up to 2 years of college or technical school credit during their high school years paid for by the state.

Students attend school on campus on Monday and Tuesday and work online Wednesday through Friday with the option of coming on campus for study support and group activities. The on-site component features interdisciplinary lessons that bring out student creativity and collaboration while the online component allows students the flexibility to individualize based on personal profiles.

An entirely online option may be available to those who are unable to attend the blended schedule onsite. Please contact us to find out if it is available at this time.

Standards Based & College Relevant Instruction

Our academic programming is aligned to meet the Minnesota state high school graduation requirements while meeting the standards established by the Minnesota Colleges & Universities Consortium on College and Career Readiness. The blended on-site and online experience allow for optimal flexibility both in delivery and content. Our curriculum includes AP courses to challenge those who desire a more rigorous preparation as well as Science Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) emphasis.

Unique Career Exploration and Preparation Opportunities

We have partnered with several post-secondary organizations to prepare students to take full advantage of the PSEO program as Juniors and Seniors. This includes the GPS Lifeplan program and the efolio Minnesota portfolio development technology offered by the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities System. We use these resources with our 9th and 10th grade students to help them prepare for their PSEO experience. The flexibility of the PSEO program for our 11th and 12th grade students allows us to help them further their career exploration by performing job shadowing and internships in career fields of interest.
