I have been in education for over 17 years and have worked with students from Pre-K through adult, ages 4 to 60, on campus and online.  I have worked as a high school science teacher and advisor for 10 years and a special education teacher for 5 years.  I have a Bachelor's degree in Biology from UW-River Falls and a Master's degree in Education from the U of M. As Assistant Director of Teaching and Learning at CVA I get to use my experience and passion for learning to help students identify their strengths, confront their challenges, develop their passions, and prioritize their goals.  I live in Saint Paul with my wife and two young children.  Outside of school I enjoy outdoor-adventure sports such as: rock-climbing, mountain biking, whitewater kayaking, and downhill skiing.  I am always trying to stay busy reading, looking for agates, tinkering around the house, and just trying to keep up with my kids!

I've been with Cyber Village Academy since the summer of 2001.  I enjoy the unique IT challenges that come with working at a public school.  It forces me to stretch my technical imagination.  Away from CVA, I like staying active.  Tennis, football, hiking are just a few of my favorite activities.  I've gotten the taste of being a European traveler and see many more visits in my future.  I am very excited to be returning to CVA for my third year!  I doubled majored in Psychology and Biology at Indiana University-Bloomington and spent two years teaching in Indianapolis before moving up to the Twin Cities.  I spent several years teaching around the area before landing at CVA.  During that time I met my wife, had a wonderful son named Miles, and now own two cats and a crazy beagle.  A second son will be joining the family in early November!  My hobbies include spending time with the family, board games, playing sax and piano, and doing almost anything outdoors.  A happy family at a Renaissance Festival

I received my Master of Social Work degree from the University of Minnesota and have previous experience working in both public and charter schools in St. Paul. Although I would consider myself "indoorsy," I ventured out on two camping trips this past year (one in Kings Canyon Natl. Park in California) and have made it my mission to keep pushing myself to try new things in the great outdoors. In my free time, I also enjoy going to musicals, taking Community Ed. classes, traveling and checking out new restaurants in the Twin Cities.

This is my fifth year teaching science at CVA and my fourth year serving on our Board of Directors.  In addition to teaching, I’m also a working musician and during the summer months, I run a semi-professional recording studio out of my basement to help local artists record and produce their music.  I’ve been told I’m fairly obsessed with the sport of soccer and I spend a lot of my free time watching, playing, and coaching “the beautiful game”.  Although my academic background is mainly in physics, I love that teaching at CVA gives me the opportunity to branch out into a few other STEM subjects that I’m also very interested in.     A man playing a Nintendo 64

I am Rebecca Main, your Physical Education teacher here at CVA. Hailing from Wisconsin Rapids, WI, I am a TRUE “cheesehead” loving the Packers, Badgers and Brewers. That said, my respect for Minnesota is immense as a graduate of the University of Minnesota- Twin Cities. Graduating with multiple degrees of MA- Physical Education and DAPE, BS-Kinesiology, BM- Music Education (K-12 Choral) and Coaching Certificate (Track & Field, Strength & Conditioning); was always in the cards and yet a true journey indeed. Some of my favorite hobbies center around my 18+ years in the sport of Powerlifting, as I stay involved by competing, coaching and acting as an International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) Referee. My summer of 2016 was spent becoming a Category II Level IPF Referee and Senior National USAPL (USA National Team) Coach. It is a JOY to work with United States youth to create Junior/Sub Junior (Ages 14-23) Powerlifting World Champions. My true enjoyment of all things Harry Potter, bowling and the desire to travel to historical sights rounds out my Quirky demeanor. Honorable mention to my “furry baby” named Brinkley.

I have been in education for 11 years now.  Teaching has brought me to Arizona as well as Taiwan.  I love to work with students and see their curiosities spark which leads to having a desire to learn new things.  As a reading specialist, I love to see students find books that they connect with as reading opens up the imagination and a whole new world.  Outside of teaching, I love to travel and learn about new cultures, play sports, like soccer and basketball, and spend time with my two dogs.  I also like to find ways to live a "greener" lifestyle and have taken up soap making as a hobby!

Cassy is an artist, rabbit keeper, and mother of a silly toddler. This is her 4th year at CVA and is so excited to be here!
CVA is like a family to Cassy in not just the non traditional sense, but also because she is married to Mr. Belshan, the High School math teacher. Outside of education she has a passion for photography, Harry Potter, the outdoors, and really good food (cooking is one of her passions). Cassy's Bio photo was taken this summer at her sister's wedding in Winona, MN.

This is my second year at CVA as a paraprofessional. I recently moved into St. Paul from Oakdale. The closer proximity to St. Paul is very nice for the commute each day. I reside with my two cats, Punkin and Peanut. In my leisure time I enjoy doing all sorts of arts and crafts, being a deacon at my church, volunteering for the Dakota County Historical Society and spending time with my cats. I have a grown daughter and am a grandmother. I love to travel when I can. My favorite destination is Ireland. I have been there twice and love the culture, the history and the beauty of the island. I am looking forward to a good year at CVA!
